Why dive here
With 77+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales, ocean sunfish (mola mola) and jellyfish lake - Prim Reefs offers some of Nova Scotia's richest reef diving. Water ranges 1-17°C, warmest August, September, October.
The Prim Reefs, off Nova Scotia, give you a real taste of North Atlantic diving. You’re not getting tropical corals here, but a hardy ecosystem supporting species like Atlantic cod and saithe. Keep an eye out for American lobsters tucked into crevices and the surprisingly colourful green sea urchins clinging to the rock. We often spot common jellyfish pulsing by and, if you’re lucky, a curious butterfish might swim past. It’s a solid dive for those who appreciate cooler waters and a different kind of marine beauty.
