    StandoutRich in charismatic marine life

Shag Reef, off the coast of Nova Scotia, is a surprising spot for those willing to brave the chill. While not a tropical sprawl, its rocky structure creates a home for critters you don't always expect in colder waters. We've spotted lumpsuckers clinging to the kelp and even a few puffers tucked away, which always brings a smile. Keep an eye out for American lobsters scuttling across the seabed and, if you're lucky, the elusive snake blenny. It’s a good dive for those who appreciate the subtle beauty of temperate waters and enjoy searching for the smaller, more unusual residents.
