Crowley Reef - Québec

Mystery Reef, despite its name, isn't much of a mystery once you’re down there. It’s a classic Pacific Northwest dive – think emerald green water and a surprising amount of invertebrate action. We love the sheer density of life clinging to every surface. You'll find walls carpeted in colorful anemones and nudibranchs, with huge lingcod peeking out from rocky crevices. Our favorite finds here are the smaller critters. Keep an eye out for the Four-Spined Squat Lobsters tucked into cracks and the delicate Pacific Glass Shrimp hovering near the sponges. We've even spotted curious Blackbelly Eelpouts slinking through the rocky rubble. The currents can pick up, so it's best for divers comfortable with a bit of a drift, but the payoff is worth it. It’s a site that really rewards a slow, deliberate dive, letting your eyes adjust to the subtle movements in the kelp and the vibrant hues of the invertebrates.
