Pavillon des grandes marées is one of those Québec spots that really shines if you know when to hit it. We love a good shore dive, especially when it delivers something a bit different, and here, you’re looking for the big tides – hence the name. The currents can get pretty punchy, but time it right, and you’re in for a treat. What we really go for here is the sheer variety of smaller, colder water critters. Forget your tropical colours; this is about texture and camouflage. You'll glide past fields of eelgrass, watching for the subtle movement of a snake blenny or a four-bearded rockling tucked away. We’ve had incredible luck spotting lumpsuckers here, often clinging to the rocks like miniature, grumpy gargoyles. Keep an eye out for Atlantic rock crabs scuttling across the bottom. If you surface slowly, you might even catch sight of razorbills or guillemots diving in from above. It’s a site that rewards patience and a keen eye, perfect for divers who appreciate the subtle beauty of temperate waters.
