West Reef - Québec

We've always had a soft spot for Parrachos de Maracajaú. It's not the deepest dive, but the sheer density of fish life makes it a standout for us. Imagine swimming through schools of Greenback and Gray Parrotfish so thick they dim the sunlight, a vibrant, moving wall of scales and fins. We often spot Molly Millers darting through the Mustard hill coral, and the Atlantic Yellow Cowries are a delightful find if you take your time to look closely. Our favourite thing about Maracajaú is its accessibility. It’s an easygoing drift over a sprawling coral reef, perfect for photographers or anyone who just wants to soak it all in without battling a strong current. Early mornings here are magic, before the day boats arrive. You’ll see the reef waking up, with Grunts and Sailor's Choice still schooling in the quieter pockets. We'd suggest budgeting extra time here; the longer you linger, the more little dramas you'll uncover amongst the Lettuce Coral.
