Wolfe Islander II (Wrack) - Québec

The Wolfe Islander II, scuttled intentionally, sits upright and largely intact. We love how the ferry’s broad decks are open to exploration. You can swim into the wheelhouse, navigating through ghostly shadows where light filters from above, or explore the car deck, imagining vehicles once packed solid. It’s an eerie, almost reverent feeling being inside. The freshwater species here are fascinating, quite different from what you’d find in the ocean. We’ve spotted plenty of walleye lurking in the darker corners and impressive pike patrolling the perimeter. Look closely, and you’ll see wandering mussels clinging to the metalwork, a vibrant, if subtle, sign of life. This wreck dive is a fantastic change of pace, particularly for those who appreciate the historical aspect and the unique freshwater environment. It’s generally calm, making it a good choice for newer wreck divers or those looking for a relaxed exploration.
