Dive with Martin - Cozumel

Dive with Martin isn't some deep reef drift, which is probably why it gets overlooked sometimes. We’re talking about a shore dive, right off the road, and it’s one of our favourite spots for a relaxed afternoon. The entry can be a bit awkward, stepping over some rocks, but once you’re in, it’s a calm, shallow world. What we love here is the sheer density of small stuff. You could spend an hour in a ten-meter square. We often find ourselves just finning slowly over the manatee grass, spotting Eyed Flounder perfectly camouflaged, or watching schools of Goldspotted Killifish dart around. Look closely at the sponges and rocks for the tiny Cherub Pygmy Angelfish. It’s also one of those rare spots where you might actually stumble across a Tarpon just cruising through the shallows, or spot a Little post horn squid jetting across the sand. We usually find the best light, and fewer people, in the late afternoon. If you’re into macro photography or just want to chill out and observe without any current, this is a top pick. It's a proper slow dive, perfect for just watching life happen.
