Punta Dalila - Cozumel

Punta Dalila, for us, is all about the drift. You drop in and immediately feel that gentle push, letting the Cozumel current do its work. It’s a beautifully lazy dive, letting you focus on the details rather than finning against a surge. We’ve had some cracking encounters here with Caribbean chestnut morays peering out from the crevices, and the sharpnose pufferfish are always a delight, though we did once spot an eyed flounder that took some serious patience to appreciate. What really makes Dalila special is the coral. Not just the size, but the variety. You'll see impressive formations of rose and smooth flower coral, along with the more intricate thin leaf lettuce coral. We’ve found the best time to really soak it in is mid-morning, just as the sun gets high enough to properly illuminate the reef without the midday crowds. Keep an eye out for cherub pygmy angelfish flitting amongst the branches – they’re shy, but worth the hunt. This is a perfect spot for divers who want a relaxed pace and appreciate the subtle beauty of a healthy Caribbean reef, rather than chasing big pelagics.
