Punta Tunich Wall - Cozumel

Punta Tunich often gets overlooked for its flashy neighbours, but we think that’s a mistake. This wall dive on Cozumel’s leeward side isn't always the first choice, but it consistently delivers. You’ll feel the famous Cozumel current here, a gentle push over the top of the wall, perfect for a drift dive without too much effort. Drop down and the wall reveals itself, a vertical tapestry of coral. We’ve had incredible luck spotting trumpetfish here, often hovering head-down, perfectly camouflaged against the gorgonians. Keep an eye out for the splendid toadfish, too; they love to tuck themselves into crevices, their grumpy faces a real treat to find. Our favourite part is the sheer density of reef fish, especially the parrotfish, in all their iridescent glory. The current brings in a steady supply of nutrients, so the reef is healthy, thick with thin leaf lettuce coral, and always busy. It’s a great site for divers who appreciate a relaxed drift, allowing them to truly soak in the smaller details rather than chasing big pelagics. We'd suggest an afternoon dive if you can swing it, as the sun angle really brings out the colours on the wall.
