Villa Blanca Wall - Cozumel

Villa Blanca Wall sits right off the shore from some of Cozumel’s larger resorts, which means it’s often overlooked for flashier, more remote sites. That’s a mistake, in our opinion. We love this site for an easy, shallow afternoon drift, especially after a morning of deeper dives. The wall itself starts around 10 meters, a gentle slope rather than a sheer drop. It's not the most dramatic topography, but the marine life here is fantastic, particularly for macro enthusiasts. Keep your eyes peeled for those reticulated brittle stars tucked into the crevices of the star coral, and we’ve often spotted a grumpy Graysby watching us from a small cave. The Lesser Starlet Coral forms intricate formations, perfect homes for tiny molluscs like the Ivory Cerith. We always spend time looking for the fringed filefish blending into the sponges. If you're patient, you might see a brown garden eel swaying from the sandy patches, their heads poking out like curious periscopes. It's a relaxed drift, often with a gentle push from the north, making it ideal for photographers or newer divers looking for a mellow introduction to Cozumel's currents.
