Why dive here
With 195+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue whales, dolphins, humpback whales, nurse sharks and orcas - La Reina offers some of Sea of Cortez's richest diving. Water ranges 21-31°C, warmest August, September, October.
La Reina is a solid Sea of Cortez dive, popular for its sea lion colony. Expect playful encounters, especially with the younger animals zipping around. The site is generally calm, making it a good choice for newer divers or anyone wanting a relaxed dive with guaranteed wildlife interaction. Visibility here can sometimes be a bit green, but it rarely detracts from the fun of the sea lions.
