Why dive here
With 195+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue whales, dolphins, humpback whales, nurse sharks and orcas - Swanee Reef offers some of Sea of Cortez's richest reef diving. Water ranges 21-31°C, warmest August, September, October.
Swanee Reef offers a solid Sea of Cortez dive, fairly typical of the region. We usually find gorgonian fans and a good mix of smaller reef fish, like angelfish and wrasse, darting amongst the rocks. It’s a good spot for a relaxed dive, not too deep, generally well-suited for divers who appreciate a calm exploration without strong currents. Expect decent visibility most of the year.
