Cenote Car Wash, or Aktun Ha, near Tulum, is an accessible entry into the cenote experience. Don't let the name fool you, no suds anymore, just surprisingly clear water. We're talking 30-plus meters of visibility sometimes, which is a treat. It’s a good spot for newer cavern divers; the main area is open, bright, and maxes out at about 14 meters. You'll spend your dive weaving through interesting rock formations, past tree roots that dangle into the water, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot the resident freshwater croc - usually shy, but a real thrill if it makes an appearance. For those looking to get comfortable with overhead environments without feeling claustrophobic, this is a solid choice.
