Eagle Reef - Alaska

Diving Eagle Reef in Alaska is a different kind of dive, and we mean that in the best way. Forget your tropical corals, here it’s all about the cool water macro and some surprising larger visitors. We've seen fat slimy sculpins tucked into crevices, their eyes watching you pass, and the occasional snake prickleback peeking out from under rocks. During the salmon runs, it gets particularly interesting, with coho and pink salmon pushing through, which in turn can draw in seals and, if you're lucky, the distant shadow of an orca. It's a site for divers who appreciate the subtle beauty of a temperate reef and aren't afraid of a little chill.
