Kindakun Rock - Alaska

Salento Nautica isn't just another dive off the Albanian coast, it's a genuine surprise package. We love it because it’s got that raw, untouched feel that’s increasingly rare in the Med. Drop down here, and the first thing you notice is the water clarity – on a good day, it’s like liquid air, letting the light filter right down to where the Pink Sea Fans sway gently. You'll find yourself drifting past huge colonies of black leather sponge and craggy outcrops dotted with mauve stingers, their long tentacles almost imperceptibly moving in the current. Our favourite part has to be the surprising density of invertebrates. Keep an eye out for bearded fireworms making their slow crawl, and the delicate plumes of European fan-worms unfurling from every crevice. We’d suggest going in the late morning, after the coastal boat traffic has died down a bit; it makes for a much calmer experience. It’s a site that really rewards a slow pace and a keen eye, perfect for those who appreciate the smaller wonders.
