Monsanto Boxes - Florida Keys
The Monsanto Boxes site is a good option when you're in the Keys and looking for something a bit different from the usual reef dives. We find it’s not always the clearest water, but the boxes themselves, remnants of old concrete structures, create some interesting nooks and crannies. You'll often spot some more unusual critters here, like the planehead filefish or even a fringed flounder camouflaged against the rubble. It's a nice easy dive, shallow enough for a long bottom time, and usually pretty calm, making it a good pick if you're looking for a relaxed afternoon under the waves.
