Why dive here
With 87+ marine species recorded in the area - including bull sharks, dolphins, hammerhead sharks, seahorses and sea turtles - San Pablo offers some of Florida Keys's richest diving. Water ranges 19-32°C, warmest July, August, September.
The San Pablo wreck in the Florida Keys offers a relatively shallow dive, making it a good pick for newer divers or those looking for an extended bottom time. You’ll find the remains of a Spanish merchant ship that went down in 1733, spread across the sandy seafloor. It’s mostly debris now, with some cannon and ballast stones giving away its history. Look for banded drums peeking out from under scattered coral heads, and we often spot cowfish grazing over the sand. It’s a relaxed dive, good for slow exploration and macro photography, especially if you’re keen on finding those well-camouflaged dusky flounders.
