The Eagle Wreck - Florida Keys
The Eagle is a purpose-sunk wreck off Lower Matecumbe Key, now sitting upright in about 34 metres of water. We often find the visibility here to be surprisingly good, especially on an incoming tide. The stern is the deepest point, and you can swim through the holds, which are home to big schools of grunt and snapper. Look out for goliath grouper lurking in the shadows, particularly in late summer. It’s a great dive for advanced open water divers who enjoy exploring a substantial wreck with plenty of resident marine life.
