Vortex Spring is a peculiar spot, a freshwater cavern dive in the Florida panhandle. The main basin is fifty feet deep, and you’ll find it well-lit by the sun. We’ve seen a lot of Koi, Gar, and huge Catfish cruising around there, plus plenty of Bass and Blue Gill. It’s a good place for newer divers to practice buoyancy in a less demanding environment. The cavern itself stretches a hundred yards, dropping to 115 feet, and that’s where things get more interesting and definitely darker. You’ll want good lights for that section. It’s a unique experience, a different kind of dive for sure.

    Safety Notes

Overhead environment - never enter without proper cave/cavern training, redundant equipment, and a guideline.
