With 142+ marine species recorded in the area - including dolphins, octopuses, seahorses, sea turtles and mantis shrimp - Crystal River - Hunter Spring offers some of Florida Springs's richest cave diving. Water ranges 16-31°C, warmest June, July, August.
Hunter Spring in Crystal River is one of those spots where you might find yourself sharing the water with West Indian manatees, especially in the cooler months. It's a shallow, accessible spring, mostly a sandy bottom with some grassy areas. We'd suggest it's best suited for snorkelers, freedivers, or divers looking for a very relaxed drift, perhaps as an easy second dive, with the manatees as the main draw. Visibility can be excellent, though it varies with seasonal rainfall and visitor numbers.
