Hudson Grotto
Protected Area
Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park
Why dive here
With 142+ marine species recorded in the area - including dolphins, octopuses, seahorses, sea turtles and mantis shrimp - Hudson Grotto offers some of Florida Springs's richest cave diving. Water ranges 16-31°C, warmest June, July, August.
Hudson Grotto is a freshwater cave system, popular with technical divers training in overhead environments. The main attraction is the cavern, which opens into several explored tunnels. Visibility can be decent, but silting is a real concern, so good buoyancy is essential here. We’d recommend it for experienced cave divers looking to practice skills rather than a scenic dive.
Safety Notes
Overhead environment - never enter without proper cave/cavern training, redundant equipment, and a guideline.
