Aqua Center - Great Lakes
The team at Aqua Center are your go-to if you’re looking to get into diving, or just want to gear up, without leaving the Midwest. We’ve found they really excel at getting new divers comfortable and confident in the freshwater environments of the Great Lakes. They’re a solid choice for anyone in Northeast Wisconsin keen on exploring local wrecks or just getting their PADI Open Water. We particularly love Aqua Center for their community vibe. Walking in, it feels less like a shop and more like a clubhouse. They’re PADI 5 Star, so the instruction is always top-notch, but it’s the way they make you feel part of the diving scene that sets them apart. We’d suggest checking their calendar for local dive trips; they often head out to some intriguing wreck sites in Lake Michigan. Expect cooler water, of course, but also fantastic visibility on calm days, sometimes stretching thirty feet or more, revealing the ghostly outlines of old schooners. The best time to dive with them is late summer, when the thermoclines aren’t quite as brutal. Plus, they’re excellent for equipment advice – always honest about what you need for lake diving, not just pushing the most expensive kit.
