Myron Wreck - Great Lakes

The Myron Wreck, she’s a cold water marvel. Diving her means pulling on thick drysuits and biting into the chill of Lake Superior, but the reward is immense. We love the ghost ship feel here, a wooden freighter from a bygone era sitting upright and mostly intact on the lakebed. What you get is a dive through history. The stern is our favourite, with its huge rudder and propeller still in place, often shrouded in a thick school of burbot or lake trout that seem to use the wreck as their own personal apartment block. Penetration is possible for experienced wreck divers, offering a glimpse into cargo holds and engine room areas, where the cold water has preserved details you just don't see in the ocean. The wooden hull itself is a canvas of deep greens and browns, covered in a fine silt that kicks up easily, so good buoyancy is key. We'd suggest going in late summer or early autumn for the best chance of decent visibility, before the winter storms start to really stir things up. It’s a deep dive, around 50 metres, so this one's definitely for the technical crowd, or those comfortable with serious depth.
