Mystic wreck - Great Lakes

We love a Great Lakes wreck that tells a story, and the Mystic absolutely delivers. Lying in the cold, clear fresh water, she’s remarkably preserved, especially the bow. You can still make out the mast step and the anchor windlass, which really gets your imagination going. We always feel a bit of the lake’s history when we drop down onto her deck. The visibility here is often astounding, giving you these long, clear views of the entire vessel. Schools of perch dart around the intact hold, which is open enough for some easy penetration if you're qualified and careful. Our favorite part is always the stern, where the rudder and propeller are still perfectly in place, drawing light rays from above. It’s a calm dive, generally free of strong currents, making it perfect for divers keen to explore a piece of maritime history without fighting conditions. Just remember that the water is always chilly, so a drysuit is definitely our recommendation.
