Pyramid Pinnacle - Hawaii

Special Request, sitting on the outer edge of Dr. Grooms Garden, really delivers if you know what you’re looking for. We find the top of the slope, around 12 to 15 meters, is our favourite spot. It’s a garden of sea plumes and those big rope sponges, and it always feels like something’s peeking out. We’ve had great luck finding slender filefish here, just swaying in the soft current, perfectly camouflaged. For us, the real draw is often the smaller stuff. We’ve spent whole dives just combing the sand patches and coral rubble for mottled jawfish or the occasional mimic blenny, and the seahorse sightings are genuinely consistent, which is a rare treat. We’d suggest a slow pace, really getting down close to the reef to spot the juveniles and the camouflaged creatures. Visibility averages around 17 meters, which is perfectly good for enjoying the reef’s colours, but it’s the macro life that makes this place sing. This site is definitely one for the patient observer, the diver who likes to linger and find the hidden gems rather than race through.
