Jimmy Judd Reef, out here in the Pacific Northwest, is a solid dive, especially if you’re into the colder water ecosystems. We’ve found it’s usually a reliable spot for spotting some of the region’s iconic residents. Think big sunflower stars clinging to the rocks and the occasional spotted ratfish ghosting past. If you time it right, particularly during late summer or early fall, you might even catch the tail end of a salmon run – pink and coho salmon pushing through, a real spectacle. It’s a good one for those who appreciate the unique beauty of temperate reefs, no crazy currents, just good solid diving.
