With 35+ marine species recorded in the area - including humpback whales, orcas and seals & sea lions - Plover Reefs offers some of Pacific Northwest's richest reef diving. Water ranges 7-17°C, warmest July, August, September.
Plover Reefs might not grab headlines like some tropical locales, but for us, it's a solid Pacific Northwest dive. You're looking at a patchwork of rock and coral, a surprisingly vibrant landscape given the cooler water. We've often found ourselves watching Dungeness crabs scuttling across the seabed, and if you’re lucky, a Spotted Ratfish might glide past. Keep an eye out for schooling herring or sardines, especially when the coho or Chinook salmon are around. It's a site that rewards a slow, deliberate dive, really letting you observe the local characters.
