With 197+ marine species recorded in the area - including blacktip reef sharks, blue-spotted stingrays, dugongs, hammerhead sharks and sea turtles - La Passe offers some of Gulf of Tadjoura's richest drift diving. Water ranges 27-32°C, warmest June, September, October.
La Passe, nestled in the Gulf of Tadjoura, gives you a classic Djibouti drift. It's not a deep dive, topping out around 23 meters, but the current can be lively, pushing you along a sloping reef. We often see schools of jacks and barracuda hanging in the flow, plus the occasional reef shark patrolling the deeper sections. It’s an intermediate dive, perfect for those who enjoy letting the ocean do the work and focusing on the bigger pelagics that cruise by.
