MEDITERRANEAN PRINCESS - Gulf of Tadjoura

The Mediterranean Princess isn't just a wreck; it’s a time capsule, a huge steamship that met its end gracefully upright in the Gulf of Tadjoura. We’ve always had a soft spot for wrecks that feel more like artificial reefs than just crumpled metal, and this one delivers. What hits you first is the sheer scale – the hull stretches out, then you see the superstructure rising, covered in generations of coral growth. We love drifting over the bow, watching schools of snapper swirl in and out of the bridge. Inside the cargo holds, where daylight struggles to penetrate, you'll often spot sleeping nurse sharks tucked away. Our favourite detail has to be the lifeboat davits, still reaching out, now covered in soft corals, swaying gently with the surge. Visibility here is usually excellent, making it a great photographic subject, and the lack of strong currents means you can really take your time exploring the different decks. It’s a standout dive for anyone who appreciates a bit of history with their reef life.
