Moucha Islands - Gulf of Tadjoura
The Moucha Islands are a solid choice for a day trip out of Djibouti City. We usually find the conditions pretty forgiving here, so it’s a good spot if you’re still building confidence or just want a relaxed dive. The reef starts shallow, around 5-7 metres, then slopes gently, hitting about 18-20 metres at its deeper points. You'll see plenty of the usual suspects like Indo-Pacific sergeants and diagonal-lined wrasse darting between the coral heads. Keep an eye out for the Arabian angelfish, their colours really pop against the blue, and we've often spotted granulated drupe snails inching along the rocks. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s consistently pleasant, offering a good few hours underwater in a tranquil setting.
