Soufa - Dahab

Soufa is one of those Dahab shore dives we often overlook, tucked away between the big names, but it absolutely deserves a closer look. What we really love here is the sheer variety on a relatively simple profile. You wade in over a shallow, sandy entry, past those little fishing boats, and then it opens up into a sloping reef wall that just keeps giving. Our favourite trick is to dive it late afternoon, when the light hits the corals at an angle and the reef goes from blue to gold. The reef itself is a mix of hard and soft corals, with big gorgonian fans and some impressive table corals that are decades old. Keep an eye out for the Dusky Angelfish darting between the crevices, and we’ve seen some hefty Haffara Seabream patrolling the deeper sections. It’s also a great spot for macro life, with MacAndrew's cowries tucked into the rocks and Long-beaked Dolphins sometimes passing by further out. This is a mellow dive, perfect for a relaxed afternoon with a camera, or for knocking out a longer bottom time without strong currents.
