HIVEN 1 - Deep South
HIVEN 1 might be listed at 0m, but trust us, you’ll be diving a proper wreck here. This isn’t some deep tech dive, it’s a fantastically explorable boat, sitting upright in around 20-25 metres. We love that it’s still very much a ship, not just a pile of debris, with easy penetration points into the holds and engine room. Sunlight shafts through the open hatches, illuminating the schools of glassfish that swirl inside, making it feel quite ethereal. Our favourite part is the stern, where you can fin around the prop and rudder, then ascend to explore the wheelhouse. Keep an eye out for crocodilefish camouflaged on the deck and the resident moray eels peeking from various crevices. It’s a photographer's dream when the visibility is good, which it often is in the Deep South. Hiven 1 is perfect for advanced open water divers looking for a substantial, intact wreck experience without the extreme depths. Just be mindful of potential currents on the surface, especially when entering and exiting.
