With 52+ marine species recorded in the area - including dolphins, humpback whales, oceanic whitetip sharks, spinner dolphins and whale sharks - Nilson Reef offers some of Deep South's richest reef diving. Water ranges 22-31°C, warmest July, August, September.
Nilson Reef is a gentle drift dive, perfect for newer divers building confidence. The reef itself is a pleasant slope, shallow at the top and gradually descending to around 19 meters. We've seen a good variety of reef fish here, particularly the usual suspects like butterflyfish and angelfish. It's a relaxed dive, a good way to ease into the Deep South.
