Sha’ab Marsa Alam - Deep South
Okay, "The Wall" might sound like a dozen other sites, but the one in Somosomo Strait is actually pretty special. Just a quick hop from the shore, it’s a site we always point people towards, especially those who love a bit of structure. You’ve got a proper, steep wall on one side, then scattered bommies on the other, creating all these fantastic little alleyways and swim-throughs. Our favourite part? The cave passages. They’re not deep, just enough to give you that cool, enclosed feeling as you glide through, schools of fusiliers often parting around you. The maximum depth of 17m keeps things relaxed, perfect for longer bottom times and really exploring all the nooks. Visibility generally sits around 18m, which is good enough to see those big boulder corals and keep an eye out for triggerfish patrolling their territory. We’ve seen turtles here, even the occasional nurse shark tucked away. It’s a site that gives you a little bit of everything without ever feeling overwhelming. If you like playing hide-and-seek with the reef, this one's for you.
