STAR OF RAWIAH - El Gouna

The Star of Rawiah, a motor vessel from 1943, sits shallow at just 10 metres. It went down in 1972 after grounding on a reef near Ashrafi Lighthouse, and what’s left of it makes for an interesting, easy dive. We think it’s a good spot for newer wreck divers or those looking for a relaxed second dive. The stern section is the most intact part, with schooling glassfish often swirling around the old superstructure. Look closely and you’ll find plenty of nudibranchs and flatworms making their homes on the encrusted metal. It’s not a deep penetration dive, but exploring the exterior and the accessible cargo holds offers a nice sense of history.
