Shaab Hamam is a reef dive where divers can encounter dolphins, humpback whales, oceanic whitetip sharks, sea turtles and spinner dolphins. Water ranges 23-31°C, warmest July, August, September.
Shaab Hamam is a solid choice for a day out from Marsa Alam, especially if you’re hoping for pelagics. We’ve had some cracking encounters here, particularly with bottlenose dolphins and on a truly lucky day, false killer whales cruising through. It’s mostly about the open water here, so you’ll want to keep an eye on the blue, though there are some nice patches of reef to explore if the bigger stuff is shy. Visibility is usually good, making it a comfortable dive for most experience levels, as long as you’re happy with a bit of current now and then.
