    StandoutRich in charismatic marine life

St. John’s Caves, down in the St. John’s Reef system off Marsa Alam, offers a good mix of cavern diving without ever getting too tight. We’ve found the swim-throughs here are more like large, open tunnels that let in plenty of ambient light, making it suitable for divers comfortable in overhead environments but perhaps not ready for full-on cave diving. Keep an eye out for cowfish tucked into the corners, and if you’re really lucky, both long-beaked and bridled dolphins sometimes cruise through the area. It’s a site that rewards slower exploration, letting your eyes adjust to the interplay of light and shadow.

    Safety Notes

Overhead environment - never enter without proper cave/cavern training, redundant equipment, and a guideline.
