St. John's Gota Kebir, out near the southern reaches of Marsa Alam, is a decent enough pinnacle dive. We’ve seen it referred to as a "dolphin haven," and while we wouldn't guarantee a show every time, there’s a real chance of encountering various dolphin species, like the long-beaked or Indian Ocean bottlenose, cruising past. The site itself offers some interesting reef structures, though it's the pelagic encounters that really make the trip. It's a good pick for those who enjoy the open ocean feel and the possibility of bigger animal sightings, rather than focusing solely on macro life.
