Middle Reef - Safaga

Middle Reef, off Safaga, is one of those spots you hit hoping for a big pelagic encounter. While the reef itself offers some decent soft corals and a good chance to spot the usual Red Sea suspects like angelfish and parrotfish, the real draw here are the dolphins. We've had some incredible encounters with Indian Ocean bottlenose dolphins and even the more elusive long-beaked dolphins cruising by. False killer whales have also been recorded, making it a site we always keep on our radar. It’s a drift dive, often with a mild current, so it suits divers comfortable moving with the flow and keeping an eye out into the blue.
