GATA PETROL - Tyre

We’ve always had a soft spot for the Gata Petrol. It’s not the biggest wreck you’ll ever dive, but there’s a quiet dignity to this old tanker, sunk back in '76. Lying upright at a comfortable 20 metres, she’s become a proper artificial reef, completely covered in growth. You can glide over her deck, peer into open hatches, or ghost along her superstructure. We love watching the resident schools of snapper dart in and out of the shadows, and the occasional green turtle often cruises by, seemingly unbothered by divers. This is a site for those who appreciate history and the slow reclamation by the sea. Give her about 45 minutes of bottom time to really take it all in.
