KIMON - Tyre
The Kimon, resting in just 6 metres of water off Tyre, is a pretty accessible wreck. This old motor vessel, formerly the Dorami, went down in Beirut Harbour during the hostilities of 1978 and was later reclassified as a dangerous wreck, though the danger nowadays is purely historical. What we find here is a broken-up hull, scattered across the seabed, which makes for a fascinating shallow dive. You'll spend your time exploring its various pieces, noticing how the metal has softened with age. Schools of damselfish flit amongst the wreckage, and we've often seen octopus tucked into crevices. It's a relaxed site, ideal for newer divers or those looking for a second, easy dive to round off the day.
