SAID - Tyre
The SAID, a steamship sunk by a German submarine in 1942, rests upright at 58 metres off Tyre. Dropping down, you start to make out her elegant lines, a classic build from 1886. The wreck is largely intact, with her bow and stern still well-defined, and we often find schools of snapper weaving through the superstructure. While the depth makes this a technical dive, the SAID offers a rewarding look at a piece of history, slowly becoming a part of the reef itself. Visibility here is generally good, allowing for a proper appreciation of her scale.
