FOTINI - Jeddah

FOTINI sits right on the reef top, a stark sight with its stern poking out of the water. It’s an interesting wreck, not deep, more of a shallow exploration. We’ve found the best approach is to start shallow and follow the wreck as it slopes down to about 20 metres. The bow area, in particular, is a favourite. You’ll find schools of snappers and fusiliers swirling around the deck, darting in and out of the broken superstructure. The light plays beautifully through the gaps, creating these ethereal shafts of sun. On our last visit, we watched a solitary giant moray peering out from a shadowed cargo hold, its head swaying slowly. The shallow depth means you get good bottom time, so you can really take your time poking around, spotting the smaller stuff like nudibranchs on the encrusted railings. It’s perfect for photographers looking for interesting light and texture, and for divers who prefer a relaxed pace over deep dives.
