GISMATALLAH - Jeddah
Gismatallah is a standout for us, especially if you’re into shallow wreck exploration. This motor vessel went down in '79, settling comfortably on Wasiyah Reef, and what’s left is a truly engaging dive at just 5 metres. We love how the stern and bow sections are still quite distinct, giving you a real sense of its former life. You can spend a good chunk of time just finning around the skeletal remains, peeking into what were once cabins. The true magic here, though, is how the reef has reclaimed it. Hard corals sprout from every available surface, and the entire structure is coated in a fuzzy growth of soft corals that sway gently with the surge. On a sunny day, the light filters through the shallow water, illuminating schools of fusiliers darting in and out of the superstructure. We’ve seen parrotfish grazing on the corals, and sometimes, if you're patient, a grumpy stonefish blending into the wreck's rusted metal. Our tip: go at high tide for the best visibility and a smoother approach. It’s perfect for newer divers looking for a bit of history, or experienced wreck heads who appreciate a relaxed, detailed explore.
