SAMIR 1 - Jeddah

The SAMIR 1 is a sturdy motor vessel, now resting at 22m just outside Jeddah’s busy port. She went down after a bunkering fire in 1979, and while the port buzzes above, below it's a remarkably calm dive. We've always found the hull to be a brilliant spot for finding glassfish schools shimmering in the darker recesses and the odd lionfish or two tucked into the broken sections. It’s a straightforward wreck to navigate, roughly 72m long, with the bow and stern still quite defined. We’d suggest focusing your dive on exploring the deck structures, where the original rigging and fittings are heavily encrusted. The lack of strong currents makes it an easy drift along the entire length, and it's a solid choice if you're looking for a relaxed wreck dive with a decent amount of structure still intact.
