STEFANOS S (PROBABLY) - Jeddah

The Stefanos S, or what we’re pretty sure is the Stefanos S, offers a good glimpse into the Red Sea’s knack for reclaiming man-made objects. This old carrier, sunk in 1978 after running aground, sits upright at 22 metres. Its 57-metre length means you can spend a solid dive exploring the deck and superstructure, which are now completely encrusted with hard corals. Schools of bannerfish often hang around the bridge, and we’ve seen plenty of lionfish tucked into the cargo holds. It’s a comfortable wreck dive, not too deep, and the visibility here is usually excellent, making it a solid choice for advanced open water divers looking for a good swim-through or two without strong currents.
