ALIA 1 (AFTER SECTION) - Fujairah
The Alia 1’s ‘After Section’ is a proper deep dive, sitting at 38m. Not one for your first few deep dives, but if you’re comfortable with the depth, this is our favourite part of the wreck. It’s the remains of a steel barge, scattered in pieces, but those pieces are substantial. We love how the metal has softened over time, edges rounded by the current, now completely encrusted. You drop onto a jumble of twisted metal and quickly spot the huge propeller and rudder, often swarming with schools of yellowtail snappers. Swim around the stern, where you’ll find plenty of moray eels tucked into crevices, and keep an eye out for whitetip reef sharks cruising the perimeter. The structure provides great shelter, so we often see larger pelagic fish passing by. This part of the Alia feels more like a natural reef than a wreck, a fantastic metal sculpture taken over by the sea.

Wreck History - ALIA 1 (AFTER SECTION)
- Vessel Type
- barge

- unknown
Shrouded in mystery, the ALIA 1 is a large barge that now lies in two distinct sections on the seabed off Fujairah. This deeper of the two pieces, the aft (rear) section, rests at a depth of 38 meters, placing it firmly in the realm of technical diving. Its history and the cause of its sinking are unknown, leaving divers to piece together clues from the wreckage itself. The official classification as a 'Dangerous Wreck' adds to the allure and serves as a reminder to approach with skill and caution. Exploring the stern of this massive, broken vessel is a haunting and memorable deep dive for those with the appropriate training.
