MAHRA II - Fujairah

The Mahra II offers a proper wreck dive, a tugboat sitting upright at 27 metres. We really like how much there is to explore on this one; you can poke your head into the wheelhouse, check out the engine room – if your buoyancy is dialled in – and even fin through the prop shaft tunnel. It’s got that slightly eerie, enclosed feel that good wrecks deliver. She’s been down a while now, enough for a decent amount of growth to take hold. You’ll find moray eels peeking out from every nook, usually some big snapper hanging around the superstructure, and often a few schools of yellowtail barracuda circling overhead. Our favourite detail has to be the resident giant pufferfish, usually found somewhere near the stern, looking very unimpressed with everyone. This site is a great pick for those who enjoy penetrating wrecks and don’t mind a bit of a current now and then; it’s not too deep, but the swim-throughs definitely keep you engaged.
