UNITED WINCHER - Fujairah
The United Wincher is a proper Fujairah classic, and for good reason. We love a shallow wreck that still delivers, and this one, sitting upright at 15 metres, certainly does. It’s an old dredging vessel, pretty well broken up now, but that just means more nooks and crannies for fish to hide in. Swim through the open holds, where sunlight dapples the interior and big schools of snapper often swirl, looking for an easy meal. The bow section is particularly photogenic, draped in soft corals and bristling with anthias. Our favourite part has to be the stern, where the prop shaft is still visible, encrusted with barnacles and small anemones. Keep an eye out for moray eels tucked into the crevices; we’ve seen some hefty ones here. It’s an ideal second dive for a twin tank day, or a fantastic choice for newer wreck divers wanting to get a feel for penetration without any serious commitment. The lack of strong currents usually makes it a calm, easy dive, letting you really take your time and soak it all in.
