Alejandro Marcos B - Mar del Plata

Alejandro Marcos B is a fantastic little wreck, and a perfect entry point for exploring Mar del Plata's underwater history. We love it because it’s so accessible, sitting in just 7 metres of water. The visibility can be a bit hit or miss, typical for the area, but when it’s good, you can clearly make out the ship’s structure, a steel hull that's been down there long enough to develop some real character. What makes it special is the way the sea has reclaimed it. Patches of anemones cling to the metal, waving gently in the surge, and you’ll spot a surprising number of crabs scuttling amongst the plates. Shoals of small fish dart in and out of the shadows cast by the wreckage, often silhouetted against the filtered sunlight. It’s a site that really shows the beauty of a new ecosystem forming. Our top tip is to go on a calm day, preferably after a few days of settled weather, for the best chance at decent visibility. It’s ideal for newer wreck divers or photographers wanting to practice their skills in shallower conditions.
